Title: Crow
Characters: Zevran, f!Warden

A drop of blood ran along the blade, slowly rolling towards the sharp point, then fell to the floor. It touched the ground in a heartbeat, and yet, to him, it seemed like an eternity.
Realization followed with a wave of nausea, and he staggered a bit.
He took a step back and breathed, his training already kicking in, compelling him to move away, out, now, when something caught his eye.
He stopped in his tracks and took a better look.
A loop of gold with a green gem, an emerald, probably. He felt his lips set into a smirk.
His hand went to the bauble, carefully taking it off the merchant’s ear and slipping it inside one of his hidden pockets.
A magpie, not a crow, had said his Master once.
A full smile blossomed on his lips, remembering those words.
Your passion for beautiful things will be your ruin.
Years later, watching the most beautiful thing he had as she breathed evenly in her sleep, he came to think that truer words were never spoken.
